Helius Joins Solana Research Institute as Founding Member, Eyes Deepening Institutional Engagement

Helius, a leading Solana infrastructure provider, has announced its participation as a Founding Member of the Solana Research Institute (SRI). This collaboration aims to foster rigorous, institutional-grade research into how financial institutions can effectively leverage Solana's high-performance blockchain.

Solana Research Institute: Bridging TradFi and Blockchain

The Solana Research Institute is a Swiss-based, not-for-profit applied research forum dedicated to examining institutional participation in blockchain-based financial systems. Founded by Angus Scott, formerly Head of Innovation at Euroclear and Head of Product at CLS, and seeded by the Solana Foundation, SRI provides systematic analysis of on-chain infrastructure, guiding the transition from legacy frameworks to high-performance capital markets.

Critically, the SRI is not an advocacy organization. Its editorial stance emphasizes:

• Performance data
• Institutional adoption
• Stability concerns
• Concentration risks
• Regulatory gaps
• Areas of improvement across the ecosystem

This commitment to rigor and integrity ensures analyses that meet the stringent requirements of financial institutions.

Why This Matters Now: Solana's Institutional Readiness

The case for Solana at an institutional scale is rapidly maturing, supported by key metrics and regulatory shifts:

• Performance & Adoption:

  • USDC on Solana circulates 15.5x faster than on Ethereum.
  • BlackRock, State Street, Franklin Templeton, Visa, and Fidelity all have live deployments.
  • The protocol has maintained 100% uptime since February 2024.
  • Alpenglow is set to reduce finality to 150ms, competitive with traditional market infrastructure.

• Regulatory Clarity:

  • SOL has been officially classified as a digital commodity by the SEC and CFTC.
  • The Genius Act provides clarity for stablecoin issuance in the U.S.
  • The Eurosystem's Appia Roadmap signals public-chain participation is on central bank agendas.

SRI's inaugural publication, A Financial Institution's Guide to Solana, serves as a practical, accessible reference covering Solana's technology, economics, governance, regulatory context, and existing institutional products, designed to be a standard onboarding guide for TradFi.

Why Helius Joined: A Pillar of Solana Infrastructure and Research

Helius's decision to join SRI stems from its deep expertise and commitment to Solana. The company believes Solana is the most battle-tested and scalable network capable of supporting global on-chain trading, payments, and digital asset use cases.

• Leading Infrastructure Provider: Helius operates RPC nodes, data streaming, and transaction landing infrastructure for major Solana teams like Phantom, Jupiter, and Coinbase. It runs one of the largest Solana validators and provides SOC 2 Type II compliant validators for institutions like Bitwise, operator of the largest Solana Staking ETF. This unique focus provides unparalleled insight into institutional security, compliance, and operational requirements.

• Leading Voice in Solana Research & Developer Content: Helius has cultivated one of the most comprehensive bodies of public writing on Solana, spanning institutional reports, developer tutorials, interviews, and cultural essays. Its work is read by builders, validators, institutional analysts, policymakers, and has even been cited by the White House.

Joining SRI is a natural extension of Helius's long-standing commitment to academic rigor and presenting the institutional case for Solana.

Commitment to Solana's Future

As Solana enters a new era of mainstream growth, Helius is doubling down on its commitment. The success of Solana as institutional financial infrastructure depends on the quality of discourse, depth of analysis for decision-makers, and responsible stewardship from core ecosystem participants. The Solana Research Institute is positioned to drive this critical work, with Helius actively contributing to its mission.
