Solana Clears 1 Billion Weekly Transactions as Tokenized Equities Reach 82% Share
Solana posted record network activity and dominated tokenized equity settlement in July, even as declining fee revenue and a weak SOL price put pressure on the network’s economic model.
Solana processed 1,012,226,009 transactions during the week of July 27 to August 2, setting a new weekly record as the network’s tokenized asset ecosystem continued to expand. The milestone arrived alongside a sharp divergence between usage and economics: SOL trades near $73, while fee revenue and application income have declined.
Record Activity Meets Tokenized Asset Demand
The weekly transaction total surpassed Solana’s previous record of 962.4 million non-vote transactions, set in late June 2026, according to data shared by Solana’s official account and sourced from Blockworks Analytics.
Solana also processed approximately $1.45 billion in tokenized equities volume during July, representing about 82% of all tokenized stock trading across blockchains. The network’s cumulative share of on-chain tokenized equity spot volume has reached roughly 97% since the category emerged in mid-2025, according to the Solana Foundation.
Recent tokenized asset growth includes:
- $5.77 billion in total tokenized asset volume during Q2, up 114% from Q1.
- $4.8 billion in Q2 tokenized equities volume, compared with $1.1 billion in Q1.
- More than $10 billion in cumulative tokenized equity volume by late June.
- 689.1% year-over-year growth in the market value of tokenized gold on Solana.
The broader real-world asset ecosystem holds $3.7 billion in non-stablecoin value across more than 313,000 holders. J.P. Morgan, BlackRock and SBI Holdings have all deployed products on the network.
Upgrades and Tokenomics Proposals Advance
Solana’s infrastructure roadmap is moving in parallel with its asset-growth story. Under SIMD-0525, testnet slot times have been reduced from 400 milliseconds to 350 milliseconds, with the first mainnet reduction targeted for August 17, 2026. The proposal outlines four successive reductions, eventually aiming for 200-millisecond slots.
The larger Alpenglow consensus overhaul is targeting late Q3 or early Q4 deployment. It is designed to reduce transaction finality from approximately 12.8 seconds to between 100 and 150 milliseconds.
Validator-backed proposals SIMD-0550 and SIMD-0553 could also reshape SOL’s supply economics:
- SIMD-0550 would increase annual disinflation from 15% to 30%, reaching the 1.5% terminal inflation rate by 2029 instead of 2032.
- SIMD-0553 would burn 100% of transaction fees, potentially increasing daily SOL burns from about 650 to as many as 9,000 SOL.
The proposals need roughly 40 million additional SOL in validator support before the August 18 signaling deadline.
What This Means
Solana is demonstrating substantial adoption in transaction volume and tokenized assets, but those metrics have not yet translated into stronger network revenue. Q2 Real Economic Value fell 43% to $51 million, while priority fees, Jito tips and application revenue also declined as memecoin activity cooled.
Tokenized equity settlement offers scale but generates minimal fees compared with speculative trading. The market’s next test is whether the proposed burns, faster slots, Alpenglow and institutional products such as Morgan Stanley’s spot SOL ETF can convert record usage into sustainable economics—and eventually support SOL’s price.
