xStocks Tokenized Stocks Reach $1B Onchain Market Cap After 802.5% Annual Surge
The tokenized-equity platform has grown from roughly 60 tickers at launch to more than 1,300 assets across 11 blockchains, with cumulative trading volume topping $40 billion.

xStocks, a tokenized-equity platform that launched primarily on Solana, has reached approximately $1 billion in onchain market capitalization, marking an 802.5% increase over the past year. The growth highlights rising demand for blockchain-based access to stocks and exchange-traded funds, even as regulatory and custody risks remain central to the model.
From 60 Tickers to a Billion-Dollar Market
xStocks went live on June 30, 2025, with roughly 60 tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs. The platform was launched by Backed Assets (JE) Limited, which was later acquired by Payward, the parent company of Kraken.
Each xStocks token is designed to track one share of an underlying stock or ETF and is backed 1:1 by shares held in regulated custody. However, the products are structured as tracker certificates rather than direct ownership of the underlying securities.
That structure allows the tokens to trade around the clock, including outside traditional U.S. market hours. According to the research findings, xStocks’ onchain market capitalization was approximately $685 million in early September 2026 before rising to about $886 million by October 25. The broader milestone cited for the platform places its tokenized-stock market cap at roughly $1 billion.
Broader Coverage and Trading Activity
The platform’s asset catalog has expanded sharply alongside its market capitalization. By October 2026, xStocks offered more than 1,300 assets across at least 11 blockchains, a substantial increase from its launch lineup.
Key growth indicators include:
- More than $40 billion in cumulative trading volume.
- More than $1 billion in decentralized-exchange activity during September 2026 alone.
- Expansion beyond its initial Solana focus toward additional networks, including Ethereum and BNB Chain.
- A position within a broader tokenized-equity market estimated at approximately $2.67 billion.
Despite the platform’s international reach, xStocks tokens are not available to U.S. persons. That limitation underscores the difficulty of offering tokenized versions of U.S. securities while navigating local securities regulations.
What This Means
The growth of xStocks suggests that tokenized equities are moving beyond an experimental use case and attracting meaningful onchain liquidity. For Solana, the platform’s early presence adds to the network’s role in bringing traditional financial assets into crypto-native markets.
The milestone does not eliminate structural risks. Holders own tracker certificates rather than direct shares and therefore rely on the issuer, custodian and redemption framework. The stated 1:1 backing is only as dependable as the custody arrangements supporting it. Regulatory changes could also alter product access, token structures and which jurisdictions can participate. For now, xStocks’ rapid expansion points to strong demand for continuous, programmable exposure to traditional markets—but not yet to a settled regulatory model.
