Backpack brings tokenized BlackRock shares to Solana
Backpack Securities has launched a tokenized version of BlackRock shares on Solana, allowing users to transfer and trade exposure to the asset around the clock through on-chain venues.

Backpack Securities has added BlackRock to its tokenized-stock lineup, with its $BLK token now live on Solana. The launch gives users a blockchain-native representation of BlackRock shares that can move between wallets and trade beyond traditional stock-market hours.
A stock-market bridge on Solana
Backpack Securities is the brokerage and tokenization arm of Backpack, a Solana-focused platform that launched in June 2026 to offer access to real U.S. equities through regulated infrastructure. After purchasing a stock, users can convert their holdings into tokenized versions that exist on Solana and can be traded through decentralized exchanges.
The $BLK rollout is part of a broader initiative with Sunrise, Backpack’s partner for issuing and trading tokenized securities on Solana. BlackRock had previously been identified as a planned addition to the platform’s expanding stock-token pipeline.
The structure is designed to preserve a 1:1 connection with an underlying share while adding blockchain-based portability. Holders can potentially:
- Transfer tokenized shares between compatible wallets.
- Trade outside the operating hours of traditional exchanges.
- Use the assets in decentralized finance applications and other on-chain services.
Tokenized equity market expands
Backpack had listed approximately 200 tokenized stocks by September 2026, including 20 new additions during that month. The broader Solana tokenized-equity market recorded more than $4.9 billion in trading volume in the first half of 2026.
Backpack-issued tokens also accounted for 73% of decentralized-exchange market share for tokenized equities during one measured week in 2026. The figures point to growing demand for products that combine brokerage access with the composability and continuous settlement features of blockchain markets.
Backpack co-founder Armani Ferrante has described the company’s broader goal as building a single API that connects traditional brokerage functions with decentralized finance. That approach could reduce the need for developers to assemble separate systems for custody, trading and on-chain integration.
What This Means
The $BLK launch strengthens Solana’s position as a venue for bringing traditional financial assets into programmable markets. For traders, round-the-clock access and wallet-to-wallet transfers offer greater flexibility than a conventional brokerage account, while DeFi compatibility could create additional uses for tokenized equity positions.
The model still faces important limitations. Investors will need clarity on how dividends, voting rights and other corporate actions are passed through to token holders. Liquidity may also be thinner during overnight and weekend sessions than during regular exchange hours, potentially producing wider spreads and greater execution risk.
Even with those considerations, the addition of BlackRock shares signals that tokenized equities are moving beyond experimentation toward a broader market infrastructure connecting regulated finance and Solana-based applications.
