Ex-Galaxy Digital DeFi Chief Michael Marcantonio Takes the Helm at Temporal
Former Galaxy Digital DeFi chief Michael Marcantonio has joined Temporal as CEO, bringing onchain trading, corporate strategy and M&A experience to the Solana-focused firm.

Former Galaxy Digital DeFi chief Michael Marcantonio has been appointed CEO of Temporal, the Solana research and development firm behind the Harmonic blockbuilding client and Humidifi, a leading proprietary automated market maker. His arrival comes as Temporal prepares to expand beyond spot trading infrastructure and into a broader suite of onchain financial markets.
From Galaxy Digital to Temporal
Marcantonio spent five years at Galaxy Digital, where he served as Head of DeFi and previously as Senior Corporate Counsel. At Temporal, he is expected to combine his experience in onchain markets, corporate strategy and mergers and acquisitions with the company’s existing engineering and quantitative trading expertise.
“Pound for pound, Temporal has the most technically gifted team of engineers and quant traders on Solana,” Marcantonio said, describing the firm as being at the forefront of redesigning financial market structures that have existed for more than a century.
He said Temporal’s ambitions extend beyond improving existing crypto trading venues, positioning the firm as a potential competitor to established financial institutions including Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley. Marcantonio’s stated goal is to help “reengineer the global financial system” through decentralized infrastructure.
Expanding Solana’s Market Infrastructure
Temporal’s existing footprint gives the company exposure to both execution and transaction ordering. Its Humidifi venue is among Solana’s prominent proprietary AMMs, while its Harmonic blockbuilding client reportedly runs on 31% of network stake.
The company has also hinted at a pipeline of new products, including:
- Onchain perpetual futures
- Prediction markets
- Options
- Structured products
The expansion would build on Temporal’s argument that Solana’s throughput and market microstructure can support sophisticated decentralized financial products. The research source says Solana led all chains in spot trading volume and application revenue throughout 2025 and 2026, while also capturing more than 34% of tokenized equity market share.
Temporal founder Ben Coverston has previously challenged the view that Solana is not suitable for competitive perpetual futures markets. Marcantonio’s appointment may give those plans additional strategic and commercial momentum.
Governance and SOL Value Accrual
Temporal’s role may extend beyond customer-facing applications. Its engineers have participated in governance discussions focused on directing more onchain activity toward SOL value accrual. Although SGP-003 was rejected by Solana voters, the company could revisit programmatic mechanisms intended to connect network usage with the value of the native token.
What This Means
Marcantonio’s appointment signals that Temporal is positioning itself as more than a trading technology provider. The combination of a senior digital-asset executive, a market-making operation and blockbuilding infrastructure could support a coordinated push into multiple financial products on Solana.
If Temporal delivers on its roadmap, the firm could become an important source of liquidity and market infrastructure across decentralized derivatives and structured products. It may also renew debate over how private infrastructure providers should contribute to SOL value accrual and the broader economics of the Solana network.
