Tokenized Intel Goes Live on Solana via Backpack Securities' Sunrise Protocol

Backpack Securities has launched a tokenized version of Intel ($INTC) on Solana via its Sunrise tokenization protocol, making the chipmaker's equity tradable around the clock on decentralized exchanges — primarily Raydium, Solana's largest DEX. The listing advances Solana's position as a parallel equities market and introduces a legal framework that prior tokenized stock experiments entirely lacked.

The Legal Architecture That Changes Everything

Each tokenized INTC token represents a 1:1 claim on an underlying Intel share held in third-party custody. The tokens are structured under New York's UCC Article 8 — a critical legal distinction from the synthetic stock products run by Binance and FTX in 2021, both of which were shut down by regulators due to the absence of enforceable ownership rights.

UCC Article 8 compliance means token holders receive the same legal protections as traditional shareholders, including entitlements to dividends and stock splits. This is not a synthetic representation — it is a legally documented claim on a real security. That distinction creates a scalable template for future listings that previous tokenized equity efforts could not replicate.

Early trading metrics reflect the asset's newborn status:

• Total supply: approximately 6,151 tokenized INTC tokens
• Underlying share price: $103–$104 per Intel share
• Daily trading volume: ~$14,600
• Liquidity pool: ~$199,000
• Backpack Securities monthly platform volume: $1.5 billion
• Single-day trading high (mid-June): $187 million

Why Intel Specifically Matters

Unlike SpaceX ($SPCX) — where tokenization provides retail access to a private company with no public listing — Intel is available on every brokerage app in the world. The value proposition here is fundamentally different: composability and 24/7 access. Tokenized Intel can be used as DeFi collateral, traded on weekends, or held alongside on-chain positions in a single self-custody wallet — none of which are possible through traditional brokerage channels.

Backpack Securities was founded by former FTX employees and launched Sunrise in June 2026 as the protocol bridge between regulated brokerage accounts and native Solana DeFi. Intel joins a growing roster of tokenized equities on the platform, including SpaceX ($SPCX), Micron ($MU), and Robinhood ($HOODx).

What This Means

The $1.5 billion in monthly tokenized securities volume places Backpack Securities in conversation with mid-tier centralized exchanges — a remarkable figure for a platform launched in 2026. The $199K liquidity pool for INTC specifically is insufficient for institutional participation at this stage, and the layering of smart contract and platform risk on top of standard equity risk remains the primary concern for risk-conscious allocators. However, the UCC Article 8 legal framework creates a durable, regulatorily defensible template that prior attempts lacked entirely. As liquidity deepens across the platform's listed equities, Solana's role as a 24/7 parallel equities market will become increasingly difficult to dismiss.
