The Solana Intelligence Map

Helium
Decentralized wireless infrastructure powering global connectivity.
Helium is the structural pioneer and most visible success story within the Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePIN) sector, executing a complete disruption of the legacy centralized telecommunications monopoly. Originally operating on its own independent layer-1 blockchain, Helium completed a historic, highly successful migration to the Solana network, offloading its base ledger overhead to leverage Solana's ultra-cheap computational throughput and sub-second transaction finality. This allows Helium to scale token distribution and coordinate millions of physical hardware nodes without running into network congestion bottlenecks. The ecosystem functions via a strict Burn-and-Mint Equilibrium (BME) economic model. To utilize the wireless infrastructure, enterprises and consumer applications must purchase network access by burning native HNT tokens to generate dollar-pegged Data Credits (DC). This mechanism creates a direct deflationary flywheel: as real-world device connectivity and data transmission density increase across the network, the cumulative burning of HNT structurally forces supply contraction, directly aligning global hardware usage with the protocol's underlying economic asset value. The network operates on two primary wireless hardware layers. The IoT network utilizes crowdsourced LoRaWAN gateways hosted by global community participants to power low-power, long-range asset trackers, smart city sensors, and agricultural telemetry nodes. Concurrently, Helium Mobile has emerged as the major growth engine of the ecosystem, deploying decentralized 5G hotspots in high-density urban corridors. By combining this community-built physical cellular mesh with strategic national carrier backhaul partnerships, Helium Mobile delivers unlimited high-speed nationwide cellular data plans at a fraction of corporate carrier pricing. Operators earn MOBILE and HNT tokens verified by specialized cryptographic Proof-of-Coverage (PoC) consensus routines. Generating tens of millions in verifiable on-chain revenue, Helium has transitioned from a novel crypto experiment into an essential piece of global infrastructure, proving that decentralized token incentives can successfully build and maintain real-world utility networks.
Community sentiment is bullish on Helium's potential as a complementary DePIN solution to Starlink for wireless coverage, with users highlighting the value of community-owned hotspots for ground-level and indoor signal distribution alongside satellite networks.
There is no better way for @SpaceX to provide coverage indoors other than @helium offload!
Starlink Mobile with the nano base stations is going to be huge for coverage, but don’t overlook @helium hotspots. The DePIN network of community-owned Helium hotspots is already deploying decentralized wireless that could work really well alongside (or even compete with) @Starlink hybrid satellite + ground approach.
I just want to get in on those "small cells" please and thank you @elonmusk @helium https://t.co/zzh4eXLxnu
