Solana Foundation Taps Binance and Polygon Veterans to Expand Institutional Adoption
The Solana Foundation appointed former Binance executive Rachel Conlan as chief strategy officer and former Polygon Labs executive Jamal Raees as general manager of payments as on-chain activity accelerates.
The Solana Foundation has appointed former Binance executive Rachel Conlan as chief strategy officer and former Polygon Labs executive Jamal Raees as general manager of payments. The hires are aimed at expanding institutional adoption, ecosystem partnerships and payments activity on the network.
New Leadership for Institutional Growth
Conlan will oversee strategy across institutional partnerships and ecosystem growth. She spent three years at Binance and previously held senior leadership roles at OKX, CAA Sports and Havas.
Raees joins from Polygon Labs and will work with payment companies, enterprises and the wider Solana ecosystem. His mandate is to increase the adoption and reach of Solana as global payments infrastructure.
Solana Foundation President Lily Liu described the appointments as part of the ecosystem’s broader expansion. She said the network is in the “early innings of the Token Supercycle,” a term the foundation uses for the migration of money, assets and ownership onto always-on internet infrastructure.
Conlan said her focus will be on making Solana’s value clearer to a wider audience, building institutional relationships and helping businesses move from interest to implementation.
Network Activity Sets the Backdrop
The appointments come as the foundation points to rising activity across stablecoins, real-world assets and tokenized equities. According to figures cited by the foundation, Solana has processed more than $5 trillion in stablecoin volume this year.
Other reported metrics include:
- More than $4.5 billion in real-world assets on the network.
- More than $620 million in tokenized equity supply.
- Growing activity across payments, institutional finance and on-chain markets.
The foundation has also pursued partnerships and initiatives designed to support broader adoption. Earlier this year, it partnered with SBI Holdings to build a Japan-based on-chain financial market and rolled out a pay-as-you-go system for AI agents with Google Cloud.
What This Means
The leadership changes signal that Solana is prioritizing business development and real-world implementation alongside technical growth. Bringing in executives with experience at major crypto infrastructure and exchange firms could help the foundation translate the network’s reported usage into deeper relationships with banks, enterprises, payment providers and asset issuers.
The strategy also places payments and tokenized finance at the center of Solana’s institutional narrative. Large stablecoin volumes and growing real-world-asset issuance may strengthen that case, although sustained adoption will depend on whether partnerships develop into recurring production use. For the market, the appointments represent a constructive ecosystem signal rather than a new product launch or immediate trading catalyst.
