Solana ETFs Nearly Match XRP as Altcoin Flows Tighten
Solana-based exchange-traded funds have attracted $648 million in year-to-date inflows, narrowly ahead of XRP as investors rotate toward higher-risk crypto exposure.

Solana is narrowly leading XRP in the race for the strongest U.S. altcoin ETF inflows, according to data published by The Block. Solana ETFs have collected $648 million year to date, compared with $643 million for XRP, even as both assets remain lower on the year and the broader crypto market has recently faced renewed volatility.
Solana’s ETF Momentum
The inflow figures place Solana second only to Bitcoin among the tracked U.S. crypto ETF categories. The scale of the flows is particularly notable relative to the size of the products: approximately 74% of Solana ETF assets under management have arrived since the beginning of the year.
By comparison, Bitcoin ETFs have attracted inflows equivalent to roughly 1% of their $112 billion asset base. XRP began with a larger base of about $1 billion, making its relative inflow approximately 56%. The data suggests that investors are using altcoin ETFs to seek incremental exposure beyond the market’s dominant asset rather than simply adding to established Bitcoin positions.
- Solana ETF inflows: $648 million year to date
- XRP ETF inflows: $643 million year to date
- Solana’s inflows since January: approximately 74% of current assets
- XRP’s comparable relative flow: approximately 56%
The competition has tightened after both Solana and XRP ETF assets grew through the summer before falling in October as most crypto ETFs recorded outflows. Across the four largest token ETF groups—Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and XRP—combined assets declined by approximately $2 billion during the month.
A Broader Market Rotation
The report frames the Solana-XRP contest as part of a wider shift toward assets farther down the crypto risk curve. Ethereum ETFs have lagged the newer competition for fresh inflows, despite Ethereum continuing to lead in stablecoin supply and decentralized finance total value locked.
Market performance has added pressure to the flows story. Solana and XRP are both still down year to date, although each has shown signs of recovery alongside the broader market. The divergence between price performance and ETF demand indicates that some investors may be positioning for a rebound rather than responding solely to current returns.
Other crypto market segments also expanded during October. Combined volume across Polymarket’s domestic and international markets and Kalshi exceeded $500 billion, while lending protocol Morpho surpassed $11 billion in total value locked. These figures point to continued demand for crypto-linked financial products, even as individual sectors experience sharp rotations.
What This Means
For Solana, maintaining the ETF lead could strengthen its position as the principal institutional alternative to Bitcoin and Ethereum. However, the narrow $5 million advantage over XRP leaves the ranking vulnerable to even modest changes in subscriptions or redemptions.
The immediate signal is constructive but not conclusive: ETF demand is substantial, yet recent outflows show that exposure can reverse quickly. Solana’s next test will be whether fresh creations return as market sentiment improves—and whether sustained institutional demand can translate into stronger support for SOL beyond the ETF wrappers.
