Schroders Brings $1.1 Trillion Emerging-Market Bond Strategy to Solana
Global asset manager Schroders is working with Centrifuge to tokenize shares in an emerging-markets bond feeder fund, marking the firm’s first deployment on Solana.

Schroders, the London-based asset manager overseeing $1.1 trillion in assets, is bringing an emerging-markets bond strategy onchain through a partnership with Centrifuge. The deployment marks Schroders’ first use of the Solana blockchain as institutional firms expand tokenization beyond cash and money-market products.
A Tokenized Feeder Fund
The initiative will tokenize shares in a feeder fund linked to Schroders’ Schroder International Selection Fund Emerging Market Bonds strategy. Rather than holding shares directly in the underlying Schroders fund, investors will hold tokenized shares in the feeder fund, with share values tracking its net asset value.
The underlying strategy invests in debt issued by governments and companies across emerging economies. That gives investors exposure to markets and currencies beyond the United States and Europe, while drawing on Schroders’ more than 50 years of experience managing emerging-markets debt.
Key features of the structure include:
- An onchain share class for the feeder fund.
- Exposure to emerging-market government and corporate debt.
- Share values linked to the feeder fund’s net asset value.
- Issuance and asset-management infrastructure supplied by Centrifuge.
Centrifuge says it has more than $750 million in tokenized assets on its platform. Its role is to provide the infrastructure for issuing and managing the tokenized investment.
Schroders’ Broader Tokenization Push
The Solana deployment is not Schroders’ first tokenization initiative. In August, the firm received regulatory approval in Ireland for its first tokenized share class of a U.S.-dollar money-market fund, called Schroders Onchain Active Returns, or SOAR.
The move comes as other major asset managers explore blockchain-based fund structures. Recent tokenization efforts from Federated Hermes and New York Life’s asset-management arm indicate that the sector’s focus is broadening beyond tokenized money-market funds and cash equivalents.
For Schroders, the Solana project extends tokenization into an actively managed fixed-income strategy. The company was founded more than 200 years ago and has more than 40 investment professionals dedicated to emerging-markets debt, according to the announcement.
What This Means
Schroders’ entry adds an established global asset manager and a traditional bond strategy to Solana’s growing institutional tokenization activity. The structure also illustrates how regulated investment products can use public blockchain infrastructure without requiring investors to hold the underlying fund directly.
The broader implication is a potential expansion in the types of assets issued onchain. If adoption continues, tokenized platforms could support not only cash-management products but also actively managed bond strategies with exposure to international markets. For Solana, the deployment strengthens its positioning as infrastructure for institutional capital markets, although the announcement does not disclose the fund’s size, investor count or distribution timetable.
